The Salon structure was developed and executed collaboratively with Jonathan
Parsons and Hector Lopez Kern.
In various discussions we felt that there was a gap between the formal assessment
and critical analysis provided by "Crits" and the Exhibition plus obligatory Preview.
We wanted a structure which did not focus on the artist's presentation of work/pieces.
Instead, the interaction between the invitees and the artist, the invitees and each
other, the invitees and the work, the artist and the work. Most importantly, the event
was to be relatively free form within a loose structure.
The work was the main structural artifice, thereby providing the context for the event.
Every component from the "invitation" to the refreshment was scrutinised and
intentionally devised.
